Common Technical
Difficulties |
Experiencing a
temporary service interruption
There are any number of reasons why you would randomly get "kicked
off" the Internet. For some difficulties we are able to recommend a solution,
where as the others are beyond TruStar's Technical Staff's control. |
- Multiple Log-ins
- Defective Cables/Loose Connection
- Call Waiting
- Weather Conditions
- Line Noise
|
For instance, we would
suggest that if your service on the Internet is interrupted one or
more times in a row, there is an interference on the phone line. If
it is a multiple log-in you will need to be sure that you do not
have more than one computer logged onto the internet at a time. If you
have call waiting it may not be wise to have your internet on that
particular line, especially if you use the call waiting a lot. Line
noise and the weather conditions are not likely suspects but have
been known to cause problems in various cases. It is best that when
you experience this "nuisance" to call your TruStar IT Technician to
assist you in evaluating the problem and finding a reasonable
solution.
|
Slow Connections
No matter what internet company you have, most people at one point
or another experience a slow dial-up connection. Unfortunately this
nuisance is not something that we can control. Depending on where
you are dialing in from, such as a rural area, the number of persons
using the phone at the same time that you connect directly effects
your connection speed. Those who check their connection speed will
notice that the speed varies depending on the time of day you are
using the internet. If it is a popular time to be online, not only at
home but at businesses too, you will notice the same effects. |

MembersNet FAQ |
|
How can I sign up for MembersNet? |
- Come into the Credit Union,
located at the corner of 4th Street and 6th Avenue and ask to
speak with a member service representative. They will assist you
in filling out an enrollment form and your automatic withdraw
form.
|
|
What if I no longer want to use
MembersNet as my internet and Email provider? |
- Come into the Credit Union
and speak with a member service representative and they will help
you in discontinuing your MembersNet service and discontinue your
automatic withdraw.
|
|
What if I am leaving town for
awhile and I don't need my service until I get back? |
- Before you leave you can
come into the Credit Union and speak with a member service
representative and ask for a Seasonal Connection form. This form
will allow you to call the Credit Union to activate your service
before you get home.
|
|
When I disconnect where do all my
emails go? |
- For whatever reason a
member gets disconnected, whether it is voluntary or due to
insufficient funds in their account on their bill date, each email
account gets disconnected and deleted. This is to insure that
there is enough room on our server to keep it in good working
condition.

Email Phishing Scam
Credit Unions across the states are being targeted by
email phishing scams. This also includes our affiliates such as
SHAZAM. Emails are being sent to both members and
non-members claiming to be from State and Federal Credit Unions
and our affiliates. This is
a form of fraud known as Phishing, where thieves “fish” for your
personal information using deceiving emails and links to fraudulent
website's. It is important that you, as always, continue to guard your
personal information carefully. TruStar Federal Credit Union, our
affiliates, and other
credit unions never send emails asking for personal information.
We recommend
that you not open any attachments or reply to any emails if you are not sure who the email is
from and that you have updated virus protection on your
computer.
If you receive any email from SHAZAM that you suspect to be fraudulent
please report it to SHAZAM -
